COCADA-MAKING VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
January 9, 2021 4-6pm EST
Join us and learn how to make traditional cocadas of San Basilio de Palenque, Colombia.
These delicious coconut candies emerge from a long history of resistance and perseverance. Maria, a palenquera, will lead us on this culinary journey to explore the history of cocadas and the role AfroColombian women play in maintaining the tradition. Maria has traveled to different countries selling her treats and has garnered much fame. From Cartagena, Colombia, she invites us into her family’s home to share a part of herself with us. There are no scientific measurements in this culinary experience! We will learn by doing!
